Subsidies for Transport

Students can apply for transport subsidies if certain criteria is fulfilled:

Minimum distance to school:

Year 5 - 7: 6 km
Year 8 - 10: 7 km
Year 11: 9 km

In the school year 2024-25 we expect to offer a subsidy of DKK 120 kr. per month from October to June.
The numbers of applications will influence in the amount per month. The transport subsidy is offered from a Government pool which is allocated from Fordelingssekretariatet. For the purpose of calculating the size of the pool, student data (name and adress) is passed on to the Fordelingssekretariatet. The school will receive information of the size of the pool in december. After this it might be neccessary to regulate from January to June. In December, we received notification of the amount allocated for transportation subsidies for 2024-25. Since the amount is higher than expected, the subsidy will increase to DKK 140 per month starting January 1, 2025, for the period January to June 2025.

The amount will be deducted from the school fee from October to June. Applications received not later than the 15. in a month will be paid as a deduction in the school fee from the following month.

Travel card (rejsekort) for young people between the age of 7 - 15 years

Parents of children and young people in the age group 7 - 15 years can buy a travel card for children at rejsekort.dk

We occasionally receive inquiries regarding Movia's school card. This card scheme is primarily aimed at public schools, where the municipalities order and pay for pupils who have been referred to a different school offer than the local school.

Skt. Josef's School is not included in the school card arrangement (skolekort), as Movia has transferred all administration of the card to the private schools (ordering, collection, changes, etc.). It is a very resource-intensive task and the administration of Skt. Josef's School does not have the opportunity to take on the task.

Students from 16 – 19 years

Students in the age group 16 - 19 years (primarily students in Year 11) can take advantage of the Transport Companies' offer of a "Youth Card for young people between 16 - 19 years" who do not attend a youth education (Year 11 is not a youth education).
The school has nothing to do with the scheme, but refers to the website, where you can read more about the conditions.
If you have any questions about the Youth Card, please contact the transport company directly.
