Refundable Deposit: (two-months fees)
There is a two-month refundable deposit payable when starting in the International Department. The deposit will be refunded in full, once all outstandings have been cleared when a student is leaving, and after receiving a two-month notice of withdrawal. The introduction of this deposit is in response to increased pressure on school places and to help us ensure that we are given adequate notice of withdrawal from the students to ensure we can forecast and plan appropriately.
Sibling discount:
Schoolfee: 800 DKK per month for 4th child at school
SFO: 250 DKK per month for the 2nd and 3rd child in the SFO.
A sibling discount is provided for children of the same family and living at the same address. The discount is allocated automatically, such that the eldest child is number 1, next eldest is child number 2 etc.
Special Grant/Subsidies:
Obtaining a grant is based on means testing.
The grant for school fees/SFO fees has to be applied for each year on a special form, which can be obtained from our website in June.
Transport allowances
Transport allowances are given to students as per the following criteria:
Year 5 to Year 7 - minimum distance of 6 km between home and school
Year 8 to Year 9 - minimum distance 7 km between home and school
Year 10 to Year 11 - minimum distance 10 km between home and school
The allowance is given per month from October to June. The amount is deducted from the school fees in October, or from the time hereafter that the application is approved. The application is sent to the administrative office by filling in the application form on our website under Practical information - Subsidies - Transportation.
School Funding in Denmark
In Denmark, schooling is mostly funded by the Danish government. If a child is in Danish state school this money is paid out to the school they attend. If a child is in a ‘friskole’ (free school - like ours) then a government grant (slightly lower than the amount they pay to state schools) is paid to the ‘friskole’ instead.
Over 60% of our funding comes from Danish government grants.
In order to qualify for this funding we follow the rules and regulations for ‘friskole’ set out by the Danish Ministry of Education, as well as the requirements of being a Cambridge Curriculum school.
This is different to private schools in many other countries where school fees from parents provide all of the funding for the school.
The school is governed by a board and is an independent association. It is not a company which can make profits for shareholders or an owner. All money raised by the school is invested in the education of the children and the upkeep of the buildings.
There are a number of rules and regulations governing this type of ‘friskoler’ in Denmark and we follow these rules.
