Welcome to the SFO

Who are we?
The SFO is a Danish after school program, available for children in both the Danish and the International Department.
Danish Department: 0. klasse - 3. klasse
International Department: Year 1 - Year 5
Please note, if your child is not attending the SFO, you will need to pick your child up by the end of their school day. You child is not allowed to stay at campus without an adult. Not even to wait for an elder sibling.

There are approximately 240 children in the SFO. We are 10 pedagogues, and several substitutes attached to the SFO on a permanent basis.

The pedagogues are allocated to one class and function as a link between a class and the SFO. The primary pedagogue from the SFO also participates in the school’s education in some classes as well as other parts of the school’s activities. The pedagogue therefore has the possibility to see how the children behave both in the school framework as well as in the SFO.
The pedagogues also participate in the parent/teacher conferences and in 2 parent meetings during the school year.

Where are we?
We have our own building that we use, but we are also able to use several of the school’s other facilities, not least all our outdoor areas and the park next door.

The SFO’s main meeting area is Blæksprutten (The Octopus). This is where several indoor activities take place. It is also here we mostly serve afternoon fruit at 2:30 PM.

What do we do?
We offer many different activities all year round. Amongst these is role play, band, building workshop, wood craft, painting, Lego, playing with dolls and many other creative activities.
All our activities are between 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
We have placed an information screen at the entrance, where you can see the activities of the day.

When are we open?
We open our morning sessions from 6:45 to 07:50, where we close the SFO, so that the children can get some fresh air before classes start at 8:00 AM.
We open again at 12:45 PM until 5:00 PM.
Note: Your child needs to be picked up by 5:00 PM at the latest.

When can a child start in the SFO?
When the child has been accepted for a place either in O. klasse in the Danish department or Year 1 in the International department, there is the opportunity to join the Mini SFO from 1st May before they start school in August.
This early start gives the children the possibility of getting used to the school surroundings and should facilitate an easier transition from the børnehave (kindergarten) to the school.
They will have two pedagogues attached to them, but also be presented to the rest of the SFO personnel, all of our activities and the other children who already attend SFO.

When the summer holiday starts, we formally close the Mini-SFO, and your child will officially be part of the normal SFO.
The SFO will be open all day during the entire summer holiday.

If the child starts during the school year, you can enroll on a day to day basis.

How do I get my child admitted into the SFO?
You fill out a registration form (you can find the form below on this page) which you send to sfo@sjs-roskilde.dk.

What should I remember?

  • To have an extra set of clothes with your child, which is appropriate for the Danish weather, so that your child can always be warm and dry

  • To check out your child in our registration system,Tabulex, when you take your child home from the SFO. This can be done on our touchscreen, which is placed in the entrance to the SFO

  • To give notice of changes- e.g. address, telephone number or other important information

  • To always give the SFO notice via Tabulex in case of illness or if the child is not able to attend the SFO
