Science Teacher (Biology Specialism)– Secondary and Upper Primary –

One Year Maternity Cover

Skt. Josef’s International School, Roskilde, is currently seeking an experienced and qualified Science teacher.

We are looking for an outstanding teacher who is hardworking and excited to join our school. This is a 1 year maternity cover to commence in August 2023. Responsibilities will primarily be teaching Cambridge Biology to year 10 and 11 (including preparing these students for IGCSE exams) and teaching science in key stage 3. A willingness to contribute to the teaching and learning of 21st century skills and project based learning, as well as developing the students character, is an important part of the job.

The ideal candidate for this position would be a qualified teacher with a minimum of three years’ experience teaching secondary Science in an international setting and/or extensive knowledge of the Cambridge Curriculum.

As a teacher, you should be able to demonstrate:
·An innovative and creative approach to providing an outstanding education
·The ability to inspire, challenge, support and empower students and colleagues towards excellence
·Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish good working relationships across the school community 
·Native Level English speaker with excellent presentation skills
·Excellent knowledge in teaching Cambridge IGCSE Science
·The ability to respond positively and proactively to the challenges of the school environment
·Being able to monitor, assess, record and report on pupil's progress
·An interest in developing the character, values and 21st century skills of our students as well as the academics
·Experience in international schools, and/or Cambridge International Curriculum would be an advantage
·Experience in teaching computer skills to students
·Experience in leading a class, delivering PSHE lessons and helping to build positive class culture and solve problems within the class constructively
·Familiarity with IT platforms such as MS Teams
·Be energetic and prepared to go the extra mile in shaping the school’s future

Step 2: If your application is shortlisted, you will be invited to teach a sample lesson to demonstrate how you plan and organise your lessons, and observe your pedagogical approach.

Step 3: If your sample lesson is of a high standard, you will be invited to a formal interview.

Sample lessons and interviews will take place from Week 19.
